Cantina del Pino
Ovello is one of the premiere sites in the entire Barbaresco wine growing region. Perfectly situated in the hills above the Tanaro River with S/SW exposure and limestone and sandy soil give this wine both elegance and intensity. Delicious now and will age well.
Ruby red intense color with an edge of pomegranate with a soft scent of prune, fruit of the forest with a note of mint....elegant with good tannins, soft and silky, balanced with fresh acidity and an intriguing scent of balsamic.

Extraordinary intensity and complexity make this a true standout. The Ovello cru excels in excellent vintages like 2004. This is a polished and pristine wine with a noticeable mineral layer that adds a delicate touch. Tannins and acidity are abundant and the wine culminates with a blast of cooling menthol. Drink after 2018.

I have been looking forward to tasting the estate-s 2004 Barbaresco Ovello for some time. It is an exceptional wine that expresses the pedigree of the vintage in its sweet, expansive personality. Ripe dark fruit, toasted oak and balsamic nuances are all woven together in a powerful, structured style. Ovello is one of the cooler micro-climates in Barbaresco and this wine remains quite powerful and tannic today. It should develop beautifully over the following years. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2024.

Sustainable practices incorporate organic standards and may exceed them and include ecologically and socially sound business practices such as fair pay for farm workers and energy conservation.
Screw Cap
Wines sealed with a screw cap as opposed to a cork, which experts report protects and preserves wine more effectively than does a cork, while also eliminating the possibility of cork taint.
No Sulfites
All wines naturally contain some sulfites, however wines that contain less than 10 parts per million sulfites are not required to include "Contains Sulfites" on their labels.
