Loimer

Spicy, peppery, and even exotic notes like grapefruit and pineapple. The very clear, juicy fruit and beautiful acidity play make this a very animated, pleasurable wine to drink. Because of its structure and lengthy mineral palate, this is a wine of depth - even with its medium body. A wonderful representative Veltliner from the Kamptal. Makes a wonderful aperitif and goes well with light starters like cold meats, cheeses and vegetables.

Wine Spectator

Well-structured and focused, with ruby grapefruit, peach and quince flavors. Citrusy notes accent the bright, spicy finish, which features notes of lentil. Drink now through 2013.

Score: 90. —Kim Marcus, February 28, 2009.

Wine Advocate

Loimers basic “Kamptaler” bottling of 2007 Gruner Veltliner – which is actually only half from his own vineyards – represents a quantum leap over its 2006 predecessor. Lime, lentil, beet root, and spinach are allied to a piquant, subtly peaty earthiness in a wine of surprising density yet juicy and refreshing, and with a remarkable degree of mineral intrigue for its price. This outstanding value (of which there are 70,000 bottles) will deliver enormous pleasure and functionality over the next 2-3 years.

Score: 90. —David Schildknecht, February 2009.

Wine Enthusiast

Loimer’s classic Grüner is delightfully cool, a green apple- and pear-flavored wine, very pure, crisp and layered with intense acidity. The edge is decidedly green, but there is plenty of creamy texture along the way. Screwcap.

Score: 88. —Roger Voss, August 01, 2008.
