My wine of the vintage in this offering, and an astonishing wine; since 2004 this has had what I call the “1975 fragrance” (perhaps the most beloved of all recent Mosel vintages)as it does now again; there’s also a brashness of pure apple; but my god, the palate! Explosive, shattering intensity of what’s at core a tender thing, zen-tender, calm in confidence of its perfect firm strength; endlessly generous but without gushing or bellowing; a mentholated high-toned apple vein fills out the finish, which seems to spiral outward into eddies and whorls of complexity.

One again the product (like Schmitt) of block picking, the 2007 Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Auslese Rotlay offers a startlingly creamy texture and deep set of inner-mouth aromas and flavors. Nut oils, musk, wood smoke, vanilla, honey, nearly over-ripe apple and pear are further inflected by peaty pungency and invigorating, briny salinity. Lily flower perfume hovers over a delicate yet supremely rich palate, and the low tones in this wine’s long, resonant finish become almost chocolate-like. If this doesn’t transport you somehow to its place of origins, it is going to take you someplace mysterious and magical nonetheless. Seasoned collectors are urged to consider purchasing this in half bottles, and leaving the 750s for the young, as it really deserves to be followed for 30 or more years.

Light in weight, but not in flavor, this 2007 Riesling offers Key lime pie, Golden Delicious apple and floral notes on a see-through frame. Offers beautiful balance and persistence, lingering gracefully on the finish. Drink now through 2032.

Screw Cap
Wines sealed with a screw cap as opposed to a cork, which experts report protects and preserves wine more effectively than does a cork, while also eliminating the possibility of cork taint.
No Sulfites
All wines naturally contain some sulfites, however wines that contain less than 10 parts per million sulfites are not required to include "Contains Sulfites" on their labels.
