Rosenblum Maggie's Reserve Zinfandel 2005
Wine SpectatorA bit untamed, with wild berry, sage and licorice aromas and intense blackberry, cracked pepper and cedar flavors that finish with firm, chewy tannins. Drink now.
Wine AdvocateThe 2005 Zinfandel Maggie's Reserve is blended with some Petite Sirah. Tannic, backward, and very dense for a 2005, it exhibits a deep ruby/purple hue as well as plenty of oak and earth. It seems to need a few more months in the bottle to round into drinking form, or it could be too tannic. Who knows? Nevertheless, it possesses some serious stuffing, and it should hold up well for 5-6 years.
Wine EnthusiastAnother new Rosenblum release and as usual, there is a sweet, sugary edge to the cherries, blackberries and chocolate, although very high acidity helps keep the mouthfeel lively. The official alcohol is 14.8%, but there is something ruby Porty going on.
