From 40 year-old vines of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot, this wine presents a delightful freshness and purity, extracted from the gravel and clay-limestone soils the vine roots reach deep into for minerals. The fruit on the wine is fresh and pure, with flavors of dark berries and elegant tannins. A certain mineral undertone hints at the flint soils in a most seductive way. A true pleasure.

Wine AdvocateProduced by the Aubert family, this sleeper of the vintage offers wonderful freshness, purity, and depth of flavor in a full-bodied, richly fruity style. Black currant, black cherry, cedar, and Christmas fruitcake characteristics are found in this complex, already endearing St.-Emilion. It should drink well for a decade or more. (Tasted two times.) Wine SpectatorRipe, with toasty spice notes and aromatic blueberry, plum and blackberry fruit, followed by a toasty, anise-tinged finish. Rather direct. Drink now through 2017.
