In our vineyards, certain blocks with distinctive characteristics produce grapes that are selected for our Family Reserve portfolio. This is true in the Voltz and Slinsen vineyards where we harvest the fruit for our Vintage Selection Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2012 vintage is full-bodied with blackberry and coffee bean aromas enhanced by baked berry, caramel and vanilla flavors producing a truly elegant and supple wine.

Wine AdvocateThe 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Vintage Selection comes from the Voltz and Slinsen vineyards. This cuvée ratchets up the levels of extract and concentration, exhibiting a dense ruby/purple color, more structure and aging potential (15-20 years), lots of blackberry and boysenberry fruit intermixed with subtle vanillin from new oak barrels, and a full-bodied mouthfeel. It possesses lots of character as well as plenty of promise. It can be drunk now or over the next 15-20 years.

Wine SpectatorAn austere style, with a very tight core of earth-laced dark berry. Ends with dusty, drying tannins that crimp the finish. Drink now through 2024. 717 cases made.

Wine EnthusiastLeathery and somewhat green, this wine has yet to find its balance, combining 95% Cabernet Sauvignon with 3% Malbec and 2% Petit Verdot. It veers between heavy, ripe tension and an underripe underbelly, finishing unsure.
