Fattoria dei Barbi Brunello di Montalcino 2011
|Appellation||Brunello di Montalcino|
|Brand||Fattoria dei Barbi|
Wine AdvocateThe 2011 Brunello di Montalcino is a steady and pleasing effort that shows dark fruit layers packed tight with spice and tobacco. Like many of the wines this vintage, Fattoria dei Barbi's newest release is immediate and approachable. You can drink it now or wait a few years longer. It tastes just great now with soft fruit layers and generous servings of black cherry and plum. It shows a dense texture with sweet tannins on the close.
Wine EnthusiastUnderbrush, mature berry, leather and grilled herb aromas lead the way. The ripe, chewy palate offers juicy wild cherry, cinnamon, menthol and a hint of anise while seasoned tannins give the finish a firm grip. It's rather straightforward but enjoyable. Drink 2018-2025.
Wine SpectatorGraphite, menthol and wild herb aromas introduce this cherry-flavored red. Hints of leather and tobacco round this out, presenting dusty tannins on the chewy finish. Best from 2018 through 2025. 33,300 cases made.
