Casa Emma is a small producer in San Donato in Poggio that has worked diligently and with care over the years. The entry-level 2020 Chianti Classico is a traditional blend of 90% Sangiovese, 5% Malvasia Nera and 5% Canaiolo. Winemaking is simple, and there are playful hints of fruit skins or mulled cherry that come with fermentation. The bouquet also encompasses crushed aspirin, candied blueberry, cinnamon and hints of dried mint. Some 60,000 bottles were made. It's a quick drink, but not an uninteresting one.
