Kosta Browne Mt. Carmel Pinot Noir 2018
|Region||California, Central Coast, Sta. Rita Hills|
Softly stewed raspberry and poached plum aromas meet with hibiscus and rose potpourri on the nose of this new single-vineyard pick-up for this iconic brand. Tart red-plum and strawberry tones engage the palate, where a snappy acidity carries a lingering hint of fennel pollen into the texturally taut finish.
From a top site in the Sta. Rita Hills, the 2018 Pinot Noir Mount Carmel sports a translucent ruby hue to go with bright cherry and mulberry fruits, notes of spicy herbs, loamy soil, and orange blossom nuances. Lifted, perfumed, and exotic, it's medium-bodied on the palate, with a lively, elegant texture, bright acidity, and a clean finish. This ethereal Pinot Noir will benefit from a year or two of bottle age and drink nicely for over a decade.
Slate and forest floor notes accent the firm mix of roasted cherry and dried berry flavors. Ends with hints of dried sage on the well-structured finish. Drink now through 2024. 350 cases made.
