Bright, saturated medium ruby. Brooding, youthfully medicinal aromas of blackberry, licorice and flint, smoky minerals. Dense, sappy and powerful, boasting terrific concentration and grip to its high-pitched flavors of blackberry, blueberry, spices and mint. Terrific texture and depth here but this tightly coiled wine is painfully young today and in need of six to eight years of cellaring. Finishes with a strong tannic spine and urgent cherry and spice intensity.

Wine EnthusiastA Bordeaux-style blend from the iconic Red Mountain site, this is precisely structured with black fruits, zippy acidity and a tight focus. The pinpoint construction suggests that this is cellarable until 2024 at least, and will continue to improve for years before settling into maturity.

Wine SpectatorDark and dense, this brooding style features firm tannins around a core of blueberry pie, smoke and roasted meat flavors that push through the finish and persist well. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Best after 2015. 300 cases made.

Wine AdvocateGiving up more toast and cedar, the 2011 Red Bordeaux Blend is medium-bodied, up-front and easy-drinking, but drops away quickly on the finish.
