Hirsch Vineyards San Andreas Fault Pinot Noir 2012The San Andreas Fault is Hirsch Vineyards' signature pinot noir and is crafted to give the drinker a complete picture of this complex vineyard. It is named for the fault-line which marks the meeting of the North American and Pacific tectonic plates, snaking its way up the California coast and passing less than a mile from Hirsch. Our proximity to the fault is responsible for the geologic and topographical complexity of our soils. The 2012 vintage has produced some of the most exceptional and cellar-worthy wines we have ever seen at Hirsch Vineyards. The pinot noirs are characterized by fruit intensity, a profound tannic structure, and complexity. They will benefit time in the cellar to show their full potential.

Fattoria Petrolo Toscana Torrione 2011Petrolo's "chateau", wine made from the different grapes varietals on the estate. The grapes proportion is the same as the vineyards we have. A perfect example of a balanced, sharp and deep red. A wine that better than others talks of the real identity of our area. Torrione is made mainly from pure Sangiovese grapes, both those that come from historic vines of the 70s and ones more recently planted with high density. The yield per plant is notably restricted (max 2.5 lbs per vine plant), allowing a concentration of all the noble components of the grape, fundamental for the full-bodied character of this wine. The maceration on the skins lasts for 14 days. Afterwards, the malolactic fermentation takes place, partly in French barrels of 225 liters, partly in 40 Hl oak barrels, and partly in cement vats. The wine then is aged in French oak barriques, one third new, for approximately 15 months.
Continuum Proprietary Red 2012Extreme care and attention to detail in both vineyard and cellar produced a fabulous 2012 Continuum, 100% grown at our estate high above Oakville. The 2012 has a dense purple robe, red highlights and a vibrant violet rim. A sumptuous yet brilliantly balanced wine, the 2012 Continuum is flush with black cherry and mulberry fruit and complex flavors of graphite and African coffee. Full bodied and opulent, the 2012 is polished, supple and harmonious with a long and complex finish and a vibrant core of minerality. While you will find it deliciously enjoyable today, with patience, you can savor its evolution for decades to come. For the fullest sensory experience we encourage decanting Continuum, to allow the wine to breathe before serving. Decanting awakens the wine's more purely fragrant expression and enhances the suppleness of the palate.
